WAVING THE UGC FLAG HIGH
Umkomaas had an exceptional week, with members holding up the Club name with great pride.
Our Allerton League celebrated their 8 – 4 victory against Durban Country Club whom they versed on Sunday, 18 March at Umkomaas. The gents were absolutely thrilled to see all the support from the Hooligans groups, as they finished off on the 18th hole. Well done guys!
Following up on the KZN Champs, Sabiha Bacaus continued to play well and was positioned in 8th place with scores of 81 and 85. She was seeded 5 in the matchplay and lost the semi-final 1 down on Tuesday after winning the first 2 rounds. She appreciated the support and help from her caddie, Jacques Hulley, as well as the Hooligans crowd for cheering her on. Well done Sabiha!
This week the club welcomed Jannie, a friend of Michael Mare who played on Wednesday. We also bade farewell to Dave Rickards as he travels back home overseas.
The Individual Stableford competition held on Wednesday 14th March was won by Roddy McGibbon with a score of 43. Dave Kemp was just behind, coming in 2nd place with a score of 38 and new member, Michael Pretorius winning on the count out, coming in 3rd with a 37 nett score.
The winners of the 4 Ball Waltzing Alliance played on Saturday 17th March, were Keith and Lesa Vergottini, Bing Opie and Michael Pretorius with an impressive score of 92. 2nd position went to Nelson Moonsamy, Raymond Ntobela and Tom Naicker with a 91 nett score and Sabiha Bacaus won the Hidden Birdie prize.
Our Fun Bingo Nite, will be taking place this week Friday 23 March. Friends and family are more than welcome to join. The cost per card is R20 and there will be great cash prizes up for grabs. Watch out for and share the poster on our Facebook Page: Umkomaas Golf Club.
Club Champs will take place on the 14 th and 15 th of April. The entry forms can be found in the clubhouse on the noticeboard. Please note that entries close on the 7th of April.
On Saturday 24 March, we will be having our 4 Ball Better Ball Stableford Competition. Tee off times start from 10am and there are a limited number of carts available.
KidsGolf was cancelled on Saturday due to the rain but will be back on for 8am this week.
