Sardine Run a great success.

The Sardine Run is now a thing of the past, having the final "Hurrah" on Saturday, 17th June and as always it was a great success with wonderful weather for the most part. Thursday saw a howling gale blowing through most of the day, the only players who benefitted, were the teams who went out first earlier in the morning, so they missed most of it! The other two days were superb, so there were no excuses for bad golf, but there was a whole lot of fun going on!! It can be said, categorically, that everyone had a fantastic tournament.

Of course it wouldn't have been the success it was, without the help of our members, friends of the Club and most importantly, our sponsors, Toyota Malanda who were there every day with their new vehicles and banners, East Coast Breweries who kept all the players hydrated on the 6th hole on all three days and the many other sponsors who supported the Club in their efforts to make the Sardine Run a special and fun experience for all. A huge thank you to our starters - Chris Viljoen, Keith Smith and Wally Kent on the last day, Jimmy Spear for marshalling so diligently every day, John Ridl from Selborne for the loan of golf carts and to all the staff who got the score cards done, sold raffle tickets, readied the golf carts in the dark each morning - while still doing the other many duties they have. We simply have the best staff, members and friends any Club could wish for, no job was too small or too big for any of them!

Congratulations to all the winners of the Sardine Run - and to the many players who travelled long distances to get to the to south coast - see you all next year!

The official results of the Sardine Run will be in Scottburgh Golf Club's report and possibly on the website at www.sardinegolf.co.za
